Obituary for Myrtle L. "Mickie" Wood

Myrtle  L.  "Mickie"  Wood
Mickie passed away on Monday, January 12, 2015.

Mickie was the daughter of the late Ida Mae Baker and Willis Ray Murray. She was a 1961 graduate of Selbyville High School and of Goldey Beacom College in 1962. Mickie was a Bookkeeper and Bartender at Pleasant Hills Bowling Lanes for 28 years before retiring in 2009. Previously she was an Insurance Agent with Harold Figgs and Walter Lokey Nationwide Insurance Agency from 1981 to 1992. She also worked for the DuPont Company from 1962 to 1969.

Mickie was a member of a Champion Fast Pitch softball team in 1969. She was a die hard Phillies and Flyers fan, and was a devoted animal lover. Mickie was an honorary member of Five Points Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary since 1971.

Besides her parents, Mickie was preceded in death by her husband of 19 years, Graham S. Wood in 1987 and her brother, Willis R. Murray II. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Dawn R. and Chuck Decino, Jr.; her granddaughter and light of her life, Gracie Isabella Decino; her niece, Tammy Grace Murray and her sister-in-law, Grace Hitchens .

Funeral Services will be 11 am on Friday, January 16 at NICHOLS-GILMORE FUNERAL HOME, 212 E. Justis Street, Newport where visitation will begin at 10 am. Visitation will also be held from 5 to 7 pm on Thursday, January 15 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Redman Cemetery in Selbyville.

The family would appreciate contributions in Mickie's memory to either Faithful Friends, Delaware Humane Society or American Diabetes Association.
