Walter Wayne Howell

W. Wayne Howell, age 75, of Wilmington, peacefully passed away on Sunday, September 6, 2026 with his family and loved ones by his side.

Wayne graduated from Thomas McKean High School in 1970. He worked at General Motors as a Final Line Inspector for 32 years before retiring in 2006. Wayne was a member of the Breakfast Club at the Christiana Roller Rink and a square dancing club. He enjoyed fishing, kayaking, hiking, riding his motorcycle and flying his radio control airplanes.

Wayne is preceded by his parents, Vaughn and Eva Howell and his brother, Michael "Bucky". He is survived by his children, Dwayne Howell, Faith Howell (Joe) and Daniel Howell (Miya); siblings, Vaughn Jr. (Sue Armstrong), Eric "Rick" (Ronna), Sue Honaker (Jim) and Steven; grandchildren, Zachary, Alexa, Ethan, Adrienne and Lucah; and his companion, Alice Stump.

A memorial service will be held at Noon on Friday, September 25, 2026 at Nichols - Gilmore Funeral Home, 212 East Justis Street Newport, DE 19804, where visitation will begin at 11:00 AM.
