Susan Kay Abbott, age 62, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday, January 7, 2026.
Susan was born in Williamsburg, VA, but grew up in North Palm Beach, FL where she enjoyed spending her time at the beach, jogging, swimming, boating and windsurfing. In her high school years, she was a cheerleader, and the Homecoming Queen of her Senior class. She had an affinity for the water and nature. She was a sweet, fun-loving, free-spirited, adventurous, and creative woman with a magnetic and vibrant personality, who could light up a room with her smile and presence. She enjoyed art, sewing, and creating gifts for her daughter. Her love for the Lord, her family and friends, and her dedication to caring for others will always be remembered, and she will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her grandmother, Katie Posey; brother, James Green; father, David Abbott; step-father, E.G. Green; great aunt, Marjorie Hough; and uncle, Ronald Watson.
She is survived by her daughter, Katie Abbott; mother, Margerie Green; sister, Kathleen Green; Katie's father, Gerry Ferguson; aunt, Viola Watson; cousins, Rhonda Lee, Vicki Garnett, Michael Watson, and Wendy Hunter; and beloved care workers, co-workers, and friends.
