Shirley A. Bailey

Shirley A. “Erin’s Mom” Bailey, age 71, of Wilmington, formerly of New Castle, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 24, 2026.

Shirley was a 1972 graduate of De La Warr High School. She worked for Nemours Children’s Hospital for many years. Shirley was a member of Salem UMC in Boothwyn, PA and was an active member of the Special Olympics, especially the Polar Bear Plunge Fundraiser. She enjoyed visiting Disney World, her trip to Graceland, and traveling with Erin for Special Olympics. Shirley was a very caring person.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her daughter, Erin Bailey.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, August 30, 2026 at VFW Post 475, 100 Veterans Lane Newark, DE 19711.
