Roy E. Childress

Roy E. Childress, age 60, of Middletown, formerly of New Castle, passed away tragically in a car accident on Saturday, November 29, 2025.

Roy was an extremely talented dry wall finisher for many years. He was very proud of his work and took pride in it. He learned the trade at a young age from his Father.

Roy attended New Castle Baptist Academy. He enjoyed working on cars, going to car shows and races and he had a passion for old cars. He loved taking trips to the beach, country drives, and listening to his music. Roy had a kind heart, was always willing to give a helping hand to those in need and he had a compassion for animals

Roy was a simple man; he lived a simple life. When he was home he enjoyed cooking, watching movies and playing with his cats, Sabrina, Flash and Francesca. Roy loved his mother very much and has been caring for her this past year

Roy was preceded in death by his brother, Allen Childress; his father, Roy A. Childress and his sister, Michelle Burris.

Survivors include his mother, Margaret Childress Wilkinson; sister, Phyllis Justison; his partner, Ginger; daughters, Megan (Raymond) and Ashley (Joey); three grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at Nichols - Gilmore Funeral Home, 212 East Justis Street Newport, DE 19804, where visitation will begin at Noon. Burial will be private.
