Robert G. Clifton Jr

Robert G. “Bobby” Clifton Jr, age 76, of Newport, passed away on Monday, May 5, 2025.

Bobby graduated from Conrad High School in 1966. He was a US Army Veteran, serving in Vietnam. Bobby worked at the DuPont Experimental Station for many years. He was a life member of the Minquas Volunteer Fire Company for over 60 years where he was a past Fire Chief. Bobby was also a member of the Defiance Club. He enjoyed classic cars, collecting fire memorabilia and fishing.

Bobby was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Judith J. Thompson Clifton in 2019 and his parents, Robert Sr and Jean Clifton.

Survivors include his nieces, Jen Thompson and Kim Rykaczewski; brother-in-law, Jay Thompson; great nieces and nephews, Reese, Jude, and Luke; cousins, Curt Clifton Sr (Lisa) and Karen Clifton Merrit (Ken) and second cousin, Curtis Clifton Jr.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, June 7 at NICHOLS-GILMORE FUNERAL HOME, 212 E. Justis St. Newport, DE 19804 where visitation will begin at 10 am. . Burial will be private. Additional parking will be available at Peniel United Methodist Church.
