Reva Bivens

Reva Bivens, affectionately known as "Rebop," "Aunt Bop," and "MomRe," was 80 years old when she passed away at Christiana Care Hospice in Newark, Delaware, on Sunday, September 20, 2026.

Reva was from Frankford, Delaware, (Roxana). She was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on December 16, 1969. For 18 years, she volunteered as a full-time preacher and teacher, sharing Bible truths throughout the communities of Berlin, Dagsboro, Millsboro, Frankford, and Selbyville and wherever and whenever she had an opportunity to help someone learn precious Bible truths.

Reva loved sharing these Bible truths with others. She did so with kindness and respect, and her true joy in life was being a proclaimer of the good news of God's Kingdom.

Reva retired in 2015, she worked as a home health aide for 25 years. She took great pride in the personal care she gave her clients, and they loved her dearly. She cared for them in the same way she would have wanted to be cared for herself.

Her love and thoughtfulness showed up in so many everyday ways. Family and friends could count on a card, letter, or phone call on their anniversary. She was the one who reminded us when it was time to change the clocks for daylight saving time. And sometimes Reva would simply show up with Rice Krispies treats or a strawberry pie just because she wanted to let someone know she was thinking of them.

Reva is survived by her husband of 62 years, Denver Bivens Sr.; her sons, Denver Bivens Jr. and his wife, Dawn; and Kenny Bivens and his wife, Sandra; her granddaughter, Denee Randall and her husband, Kris; her great-granddaughter, Nasya Randall; her brothers, John Hilliard and his wife, Rosetta, and Connie Hilliard; her sister-in-law and neighbor, Rachel Bivens-Parker; her brother-in-law, Lemuel Handy; her uncle, Bill Hagans; her aunts, Etta Bridges and Arsmithie Harris; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Before becoming one of Jehovah's Witnesses, Reva considered herself shy and reserved. But after learning what the Bible teaches about God's Kingdom and the hope it offers mankind, she found something she wanted to talk about. She learned about the hope for our dead loved ones, what happens when we die, God's purpose for the earth to become a paradise as originally intended, and His promise to remove suffering and wickedness.

After that, Reva had a lot to say.

Mom-Mom Mary Hilliard, her mother, once asked about Reva, What in the world got this child talking so much?" Mom-Mom Hilliard also learned Bible truths and became one of Jehovah's Witnesses.

When people learned that Reva had once been very shy, they often could not believe it and would ask why she had not talked much before. Reva's answer captured her perfectly:

"I never had anything worth saying before."
