Paul R. Benson

Paul R. Benson, Age 90, of Wilmington, formerly of Newport, passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2025 at Christiana Hospital.

Paul was a 1952 graduate of Conrad High School and attended Goldey-Beacom College. He was a member of the National Guard and worked as an accountant at Hercules for close to 40 years before retiring in 1989. With exceptional artistic talent, he was also an interior designer at Wax Furniture until 2000. In post-retirement, the joy of his life was volunteering at the Nemours Children’s Hospital for over 20 years. He received presidential awards for his volunteer work and made many great friends along the way. He loved interior design and landscaping, and generously shared his ideas.

Paul was preceded in death by his brothers, George and Gerry Benson and sister, Betty DeLandre.

Paul is survived by his wife of 68 years, Martha Benson; his sons, Paul R. Benson Jr and Andrew J. Benson and many loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be private.
