Patricia A. Edwards (nee Dunkelberger)

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Patricia A. Edwards (Patti) on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at the age of 76. She was a loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister-in-law and dog mom to Bryson and Chase.

Patricia was born and raised catholic in St. Matthews Church in Wilmington, DE before converting to episcopalian to be closer to her husband in faith.

She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Newport for 30+ years. Patti was a proud American supporter of our Military and Country. She was an avid Philadelphia sports fan including the Eagles, Phillies and Flyers and Navy football fan.

She was of great faith, compassion, caring, loving, a heart of gold and a friend to all that knew her.

Patti was predeceased by her high school sweetheart and beloved husband, Dave of 54 years; her parents, William and Anna; her brothers, Paul, Bill and Gary, and her Grand pups, Jack and Remy.

She is survived by her loving children, daughter Penny, who cared for her and son, David Jr; her 4 grandchildren whom she cherished dearly, Landon (Ellie), Jordan (Ethan), Virginia (Ethan) and Abbey; her sister, Sue Kriznuski (Tom); her sister-in-law’s, Sherry Riale (Wayne), H. Denise Hall and Carol Edwards; brother-in-law, Billy Edwards, nieces, nephews, cousins and her Grand pup James and many other family members.

On behalf of Patti’s family we would like to thank her caring friends and neighbors Joanna, Vicki and Linda. Her amazing caregiver Dawne, her team from Hospice of Delaware and Aging in Place.

Funeral services will be at 11 am on Friday, July 24 at NICHOLS-GILMORE FUNERAL HOME, 212 E. Justis St. Newport, DE 19804 where visitation will begin at 10 am. Entombment will follow at All Saints Cemetery.
