With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Nixa Maria Cruz, who peacefully departed this life on May 19, 2026. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, strength, and beautiful memories that will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Nixa was truly the life of the party. Her joyful spirit and vibrant personality could light up any room she entered. She loved music and especially enjoyed dancing salsa, bringing energy, happiness, and laughter wherever she went. In her younger years, she was affectionately known as “Peluché” & “La Barbie,” a nickname that perfectly reflected her beauty, confidence, and style. She always took pride in herself; her makeup was always done, her outfits always put together, and she never stepped out without smelling amazing in one of her favorite perfumes.
While she was known for her beauty and style, those who knew her best will remember her for her caring and loving heart. She had a gift for conversation and loved spending time talking, laughing, and making others feel welcomed and loved. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures: cooking meals for family, decorating, and enjoying her Walmart trips. She was known by many as quite the fisherman, and her love for fishing was just another part of the joy and passion she brought to life.
She also had an enormous love for animals and adored all five of her dogs, especially her beloved Princess. Princess was more than a pet; she was her loyal companion and went nearly everywhere by her side.
Above all, Nixa was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family meant everything to her, and she treasured every moment spent with her loved ones.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Felix Cruz Ortiz, her loving mother, Catalina Rodriguez Rosado; and her brother, Edwin.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving sons, Luis A. Hernandez Martinez and Francisco Ramos Jr.; her cherished grandchildren: Kiaraliz Hernandez, Jasmica Hernandez, Nixaliz Hernandez, Yeriani Hernandez, Luis A. Hernandez, Francisco Ramos III, and Francis E. Ramos; and her treasured great-grandchildren: Paris Thalia Garrison, Khaleesi Hernandez, Jordan Evens, Kyro Pierson, Rey Thiago Santiago Hernández, and Ryan Gael Santiago Hernández, each of whom brought immense joy and pride to her life. She also leaves behind her father, Iluminado "Nadin" Martinez; her siblings, Evelyn, Nancy, Papo, Luisito and Yaledza, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, dear friends, and countless others whose lives were touched by her kindness, love, and unforgettable spirit.
Though our hearts are broken by this loss, we find comfort in knowing her beauty, laughter, and vibrant spirit will continue living on through the many lives she touched and the memories she leaves behind.
Forever “La Barbie”. Forever loved. Forever missed. ❤️
