Nathan Roy Johnson, born in 1977, of Newark, Delaware, passed away suddenly on May 27, 2026. Nathan lived a life defined by loyalty, hard work, and a deep devotion to those closest to him—with just enough stubbornness to make sure you always knew exactly where he stood.
He is predeceased by his Father, Roy Johnson, and survived by his loving mother, Patricia Feeney, and stepfather, John Feeney; his sister, Lisa Johnson; and his brother, Jesse Johnson, along with Jesse’s wife, Amanda Johnson. Nathan was a proud and devoted uncle to his nieces and nephews: Mike Burns, Ramon Sanchez, Joel Sanchez, Cheyenne Sanchez, Michaela Johnson, Kayleigh Johnson, and Brendan Johnson. Though he had no children of his own, Nathan embraced his role as “Uncle Nathan” wholeheartedly—showing up, speaking his mind, and occasionally spoiling the kids more than he probably should have. He especially cherished his grand-nieces and grand-nephews: Aston, Olivia, Noah, Damon, Bella, and Aiden, who brought him endless pride and joy.
A lifelong resident of Newark, Nathan was a graduate of Glasgow High School, and he played both baseball and football. His love of sports never faded, and he remained a dedicated Philadelphia sports fan—standing by the Eagles and Phillies through the highs, the lows, and the “we’ll get them next year” seasons.
Nathan dedicated over 30 years to his trade as an electrician. He began his career as an apprentice with Current Electric and went on to build a respected career, finishing his years with Delaware Technical and Community College. He took pride in his work and was the kind of person who believed things should be done right the first time—even if that meant doing them himself.
Those who knew Nathan will remember him as kind-hearted, fiercely loyal, and never one to back down from a good debate—especially if he knew he was right (which, in his mind, was most of the time). His humor, and unwavering presence in the lives of his family will be deeply missed.
A service to honor Nathan’s life will be held on June 18, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Nichols - Gilmore Funeral Home, 212 East Justis Street Newport, Delaware 19804 where visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m.
Nathan’s legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched, the stories that will be told about him for years to come, and the family he loved so deeply.
