Michael J. Grabowski Sr.

Michael J. Grabowski Sr. "Big Mike", age 73, of New Castle, formerly of Browntown, passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2026.

Big Mike attended Wilmington High School. He worked as a Millwright for many years. Big Mike enjoyed crabbing and going to the dog park with his dog, Missie Miss. He also enjoyed visiting the casino and the beach where he would spend time with family and friends.

Big Mike was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Shirley A. Grabowski in 2019; his brother, Thomas Grabowski; sister, Barbara Pierce; father, Thomas S Grabowski and mother, Jeannette J Grabowski.

Survivors include his son, Mikie Grabowski Jr (Dawn); sister, Theresa Coverdale; brother, David Grabowski (Patricia); grandson, Austin Grabowski; and several beloved nieces and nephews.

We would also like to thank Compasionate Care Hospice for taking such amazing care of Pop. Your care gave him so much comfort and peace in his final days.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 24 at Nichols-Gilmore Funeral Home, 212 E. Justis St. Newport, DE 19804 where visitation will begin at Noon.
