Margaret Caufield

Margaret A. Caufield, age 89, of Newark, DE died peacefully on Friday, August 28, 2026.

Margaret was born and raised in Skegby, England and came to America in 1968, where she became a proud U.S. citizen while a resident of Delaware.

‘Miss Margaret’ as she was lovingly called, was a self-taught artist who enjoyed learning from fellow artists and at the Newark Senior Center. She was also a backstage volunteer for the local Chapel Street Theater Players where she met her husband of 43 years, Gary Caufield.

Traveling was a favorite pastime of Margaret and Garys’, both in the U.S. and Europe, with New York being one of their favorite cities to visit and catch a current Broadway Show whenever available.

She was introduced to the University of Delaware sports teams by Gary and became an avid supporter and season-football ticket holder for over 22 years. Margaret also enjoyed going on jaunts to pursue her eclectic love of vintage collectibles, especially those of The Royal Family Memorabilia.

She is preceded in death by her son, Paul; her sister, Maureen and her parents, Charles and Gwendolyn Grist.

She is survived by her husband, W. Gary Caufield; her daughters Sarah DeCamillo, Beth Winward and Joan Creekmore; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She will be interred at the Delaware Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery off Rt. 896 on September 29, 2026 at 2pm for a brief but meaningful service.
