John M. Barr

John M. Barr, age 73, of Bear, formerly of Newport, passed away on Monday, June 16, 2025.

John worked for DuPont at the Stine-Haskell location for many years.

John served proudly in the Army National Guard. He enjoyed participating as a Civil War Reenactor as a soldier in the 2nd Delaware Infantry Regiment. On top of being very patriotic, John was an avid Phillies fan and loved spending time with family at Smith Mountain Lake.

John is preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Pamala G. Barr, who passed in 2010.

Survivors include his son, Jason (Maria); daughter, Amanda (Bruno); grandchildren, Arianna, Brenden, Jaymin, Amelia, Louis and Leilani; and great grandchildren, Lyla and Ella.

Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at Nichols - Gilmore Funeral Home, 212 East Justis Street Newport, DE 19804, where visitation will begin at 10:00 AM. The family encourages everyone to wear casual clothes and especially any Phillies colors.
