Gene A Shinaberry

Gene A. Shinaberry, age 68, of Bear, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, November 28, 2025 at his home.

Gene was born in Hawaii and lived throughout New Castle County. He was a boiler maker and millwright for about 20 years at Amtrak at both the Wilmington and Bear Car Shops. He was also a self employed carpenter with Custom Remodeling. Gene was a member of the KCD Gun Club for over 30 years. He was an avid fisherman and was very active in SMART Local 526 with Amtrak.

Gene was preceded in death by his mother, Sally Shinaberry; father, Alvie Shinaberry; step mother, Annabelle Shinaberry and sister, Tammera Shinaberry.

Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Lee Ann Shinaberry; daughter, Jackie Johnston and granddaughter, Saphira Monterrosa.

A Memorial Service will be at 12 noon on Friday, December 12 at Nichols-Gilmore Funeral Home, 212 E. Justis St. Newport, DE 19804 where visitation will begin at 11 am. Burial will be private.
