Eneida Soria Perez, age 89, a woman of Cuban roots and Puerto Rican spirit, peacefully transitioned from this life on Monday, September 28, 2026, leaving behind a beautiful legacy of love, family, faith, music, and strength.
Eneida lived a life that was as vibrant and memorable as she was. In Cuba, she shared her gift of music as a singer, and after coming to the United States, she worked as a seamstress, using her hands and creativity to build a new life for herself and her family. But the role she treasured most was being a mother and the matriarch of her family.
Her “girls” were the center of her world. Eneida dedicated her life to making sure her daughters were loved, protected, and cared for, no matter how near or far they may have been. Her love was unwavering, and her presence was the foundation that held her family together.
Her love extended far beyond her immediate family. Eneida was affectionately known as “Madrina” to 17 godchildren and was loved by many throughout her community. She shared a special connection with PDH Ministries and the Quaker Hill community in Wilmington, where she formed relationships that became an important part of her life.
Eneida was preceded in death by her longtime partner of over 20 years, Gustavo Lopez, who passed away in 1988. Her home, her food, her laughter, her music, and her unmistakable spirit created memories that her family will carry with them forever
She leaves to cherish her memory her four daughters, Eneidita Jorrin Perez, Wanda Lopez, Guanina Lopez, and Samanta Lopez; her grandchildren, Michelle Lopez, Alana Custodio, Herbert Villarini, Dianelys Paz Jorrin, and Indira Lopez; and her great-grandchildren, Kimberly Farias and Michel Paz. She also leaves behind her beloved godchildren, extended family, friends, church family, and a community of people whose lives were touched by her presence.
Although our hearts are heavy, we are grateful for the 89 years of life, love, music, strength, and memories that Eneida gave us. Her physical presence will be deeply missed, but the woman she was…the mother, Madrina, matriarch, singer, caregiver, and beautiful spirit—will continue to live through every life she touched.
Celebration of Life
Funeral services celebrating Eneida’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 9, 2026, at PDH Ministries, 1401 A Street, Wilmington, Delaware 19801. Visitation with the family will begin at 10:00 a.m.
Burial will immediately follow at All Saints Cemetery.
