Ella M. (Leifheit) Cook Our mom, our sister, our anchor, aged 79, of Stanton, DE passed away peacefully in her home in the presence of her family and friends on Tuesday, October 14, 2025.

Ella retired from MBNA to take care of her late husband, Ronald Cook Sr. When Ella wasn’t working she spent much of her free time at Mary’s Kountry Kitchen with “her girls”. What brought the most joy to Ella was her family. Especially her many trips to Maine to spend time with her grandchildren.

Ella was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Blanche Leifheit; brother, Robert Leifheit; sisters, Jeanette Chinski, Bea Comegys and Blanche Mahoney.

Ella is survived by her children, Bonnie Theriault (John) of Martinsburg, WV, Ronald L. Cook Jr of Stanton, DE and Connie Cook (Kristen) of Suffolk, VA; sister, Margaret Stevenson of Montrose, PA; brothers, Albert Leifheit of Newport, DE and George Leifheit of Newark, DE; four grandchildren, Timmy, Matthew, Rebecca and Johnny and great grandson, Beau.

Ella’s children would like to thank Dr. Nisha Gandhi and her entire team at the Advanced Heart Failure Clinic for the wonderful care they provided for our mom in the last years of her life. Also, the Palliative Care Team (Dr. Ricci and Chaplain Kirk) and her RN Tara of Option Care Home Infusion.

Funeral Services will be at 10:30 am on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at Nichols-Gilmore Funeral Home, 212 E. Justis St. Newport, DE where visitation will begin at 9:30 am. Burial will be at Gracelawn Memorial Park, New Castle, DE.
