Elizabeth "Betty" Janvier

Elizabeth “Betty” Janvier, age 70, of New Castle County, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 1, 2026.

Betty was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and grew up in Maple Shade, New Jersey. She worked for many years as a bartender at The Valley Tavern, and Carney’s Pub, where she made countless friends and was known for her sense of humor.

Betty loved spending time at the beach with her family, playing mini golf, making her famous shrimp dishes, and enjoying crabs with loved ones. She cherished having fun, and creating memories with her family and friends. Nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Nevin Janvier; her daughter, Kelley; and her parents, William and Rose Mitchell.

She is survived by her daughter, Tami (Julio Garcia); her grandchildren, Patrick and Tami “Zada”; and her brother, William Hebling (Ann Marie), along with many extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
