Elaine May Laboy

Elaine May Laboy, age 65, of Wilmington, formerly of Jamaica, passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2026 after a long battle with cancer.

Elaine worked in the Red Clay School District for the last three years and prior to that worked at Nemours Children’s Hospital. She also formerly worked at Walmart and for KC Cleaners.

Elaine enjoyed reading, cleaning, shopping and listening to music. She also enjoyed watching volleyball and tennis on TV and her favorite show of all was I Love Lucy.

Elaine is preceded in death by her sister in law, Margarita.

Survivors include her sons, Fred Otis Maples and Aaron Laboy; daughter, Iliana Marie Laboy; former spouse, Nelson Laboy Jr.; and grandson, Exodus James Bradshaw Laboy.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Nichols – Gilmore Funeral Home, 212 East Justis Street Newport, De 19804, where visitation will begin at 1:00 PM. Burial will be private.
