Dennis Williams

d. April 7, 2025

Born in Brooklyn, New York to Walter J. Williams and Dolores McAvoy, Dennis led a life of dedication and purpose. He served in the United States Navy before beginning a 20+ year career with the New Jersey Department of Corrections, retiring as a Lieutenant.

Dennis was a devoted husband to Roxanne Williams (Connolly) and a proud father to Kelly and Shaun. While he valued his professional life, his family was always his greatest joy. He shared a special bond with both children — Shaun as his closest companion and Kelly as a true Daddy’s girl.

As a New York sports enthusiast, Dennis possessed a deep rooted love for the Mets (not the Yankees), Knicks, Rangers, and Giants. He was equally passionate about music and politics - passions mutually shared with his Daughter. In 2014, Dennis became a grandfather with the birth of Kelly’s son Aiden — a moment that changed the family's world. Drawn by love for their grandson, Dennis and Roxanne moved from Bayville, New Jersey, to Newark, Delaware, settling near their daughter and cherishing every moment with their family.

After Roxanne's passing in 2021, Dennis often spoke of longing to be with his soulmate. On April 7th that wish was fulfilled, and they will both be laid to rest together.

Dennis was predeceased by his parents Walter and Dolores (McAvoy), sister Diane (Bobe), and wife Roxanne (Connolly).

He is survived by his children, Shaun Michael Williams and Kelly Ann Williams Maresca, his grandson, Aiden Williams Maresca, his son-in-law, Albert Maresca, Jr.
