Deborah “Debbie” Jones, 70, of Stanton, Delaware, passed away on April 26, 2025. Born in Newark, New Jersey, Debbie made Delaware her home in 1984, where she built a quiet and meaningful life devoted to family, creativity, and care.
Debbie spent her career in the insurance industry, ultimately retiring in January 2023 from Chubb Insurance as a respected Risk Management Analyst. She was one of the 3 keystones of the department that kept the company running — deeply knowledgeable, dedicated, and relied upon by all who worked with her.
Her devotion extended far beyond the workplace. Debbie overcame breast cancer with quiet strength, carrying herself with resilience and grace through some of life’s most difficult seasons. And when her world felt heavy, it was the birth of her grandchildren, Viktorija and Korbyn, that brought her back into light. Becoming “MomMom” was her greatest joy — a title she wore with pure pride and love.
Debbie found peace in her garden, carefully tending to her flowers and capturing her work in photographs to preserve what she’d created. In the kitchen, she was a passionate home cook with an unmatched collection of cookbooks, spices, gadgets, and tools — all testaments to the way she expressed care for those she loved. Her joy of thrift shopping and antiquing fueled her creativity; she especially loved Victorian design and was always hunting for something special to bring home.
She decorated for every season — but Christmas was her masterpiece. Debbie’s elaborate, over-the-top Christmas trees could rival the magic of Macy’s or Longwood Gardens. Her home was always glowing with spirit, style, and sentiment.
Though private in her later years, she cherished life’s simple routines — especially the quiet, loving moments shared with her son and grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Robert “Rob” Jones; her grandchildren, Viktorija and Korbyn; and her brothers, John and Steven. She was preceded in death by her sister, Linda.
A visitation will be held at Nichols-Gilmore Funeral Home, 212 E Justis St, Wilmington, DE 19804, on Thursday, May 15th at 6:00 p.m., followed by a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.
Debbie will be remembered for her strength, her creativity, and her extraordinary heart. She built a home full of warmth, beauty, and love — a place where something was always blooming, a meal was always simmering, and every corner reflected the life of someone who gave deeply, loved fiercely, and never stopped making the world around her more beautiful.
