In Loving Memory of David

David, better known to most as Dave, was truly one of a kind. He had a way of giving you a hard time, but underneath it all was a heart of gold. If you knew Dave, you knew there was always a joke, a story, or some bullshit waiting around the corner. He had a way of making people laugh and leaving an impression wherever he went.

Dave was also a successful and well-known presence in the bar business. His journey began at DC Pub, continued through Pale Dogs, and eventually brought him to On the Rocks, where he made countless memories and friendships along the way. The bar business wasn’t just a career for Dave; it was a huge part of his life. He loved the people, the stories, and all the memories he made along the way.

Dave is survived by his four children, Keith, Diana, Joey, and Levi, his beloved brother, Jimmy, and his three nieces, Lily, Delilah, and Charlotte, whom he absolutely adored. He is also survived by his unborn granddaughter, Casey, whom he was so excited to meet and become a grandfather to.

Of course, Dave always liked to joke that he had five children, because there was no way he was leaving out his “little buddy,” Captain. Captain was his beloved bird and, according to Dave, his favorite child. Captain was his companion, his sidekick, and a very special part of his life. The other four children may have disagreed with the favorite-child decision, but Dave was pretty firm on it.

Dave loved his family deeply. He cared about the people in his life and had a way of showing his love through his humor, his stories, and sometimes just by giving you a hard time.

Although our hearts are broken, we find comfort knowing Dave is now resting peacefully and will be reunited with the close friends and family who loved him deeply and whose memories meant so much to him.

Dave leaves behind his four children, his beloved brother, his three nieces, his granddaughter, Casey, his little buddy Captain, countless friends, and a lifetime of memories. His stories will continue to be told, his jokes will continue to make us laugh, and his love will continue to live on through all of us.

Rest easy, Dave. Keep everyone laughing up there, give them a hard time like only you could, and make sure you save a spot for your little buddy Captain.

You were loved more than you knew, you will be missed more than words can say, and you will never be forgotten.
