David Alan Burton

David Alan Burton, age 64, of Wilmington, had his sunset on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at home due to complications of cancer.

Dave graduated from Delcastle Technical High School in 1980 and worked as an auto mechanic at various Delaware dealerships for many years.

Dave was a lifelong avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed working in the pits supporting teams in various forms of racing in the 1980s. He was active on the CB radio starting in the 1970’s on the family base station and then on and off throughout his life. He also enjoyed traveling and riding his motorcycle.

Dave is preceded in death by his parents, Gentry and Louise Burton; and his sister Debby Burton.

Survivors include his son, Jesse O'Donnell; siblings, Genny Rodgers, Mark Burton and Julie Dumire (Doug); many nieces and nephews and other extended family.

Celebration of Life Services with time for reflection and sharing will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at Nichols - Gilmore Funeral Home, 212 East Justis Street Newport, DE 19804, where visitation will begin at 2:00 PM. Burial will be private.
