Cynthia J. "Cindy" Montgomery McMilin

Cynthia J. ”Cindy” Montgomery McMilin, age 68, of New Castle, formerly of Newport, passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2026 after her courageous battle with cancer.

Cindy attended Conrad High School. She worked for Winterthur Museum in her earlier years, then a pharmacy tech at Rite Aid in New Castle, and finally, she retired after several years at Save A Lot in New Castle. Cindy has always been a hard worker, prior to her diagnosis, Cindy managed to work and take care of her home, all while being a full time caregiver to her husband since 1979.

Cindy was an avid Eagles fan, she enjoyed online shopping, watching her favorite TV shows, Delaware Park and being around her family, especially her great-grandkids which she adored.

Cindy was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Arthur J. McMilin in 2022; her daughter, Janel McMilin in 2000; her parents, Lawrence and Elizabeth Montgomery and her brothers, Lawrence and Dale Montgomery.

She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer; son in law, David; grandchildren, David (Shai), Warren (Dennisse), Kayla (Aiden), Brianna (Blair), Karisma, Kiara, Katherine and Margaret; great -grandchildren, Davion, Ayden, Laylanee, Adrian and Da’Vonte; along with her nieces and nephews; and last but not least, her big ole fur baby, Brutus.

Funeral Services will be at 10 am on Saturday, November 7 at NICHOLS-GILMORE FUNERAL HOME, 212 E. Justis St. Newport, DE 19804 where visitation will begin at 9 am. Burial will follow in Silverbrook Cemetery.
