On October 23rd, our beloved angel Alice took her flight and gained her wings. Anyone who had the honor of knowing Alice understood the fierce strength, the unshakable courage, and the bold voice she carried — but they also knew the tender heart, the infectious laughter, and above all, the boundless love she gave so freely. Alice was the first person you’d call when you needed to pour out your soul without fear of judgment, when you desperately needed a shoulder to lean on, or simply when you wanted to share a moment of joy and laughter. And yes, if someone needed to be set straight, Alice was right there, fearless and true. She stood by us, unwavering, through every storm life threw our way. Though her physical presence is gone, believe me when I say she remains here — watching, guiding, loving us still. Alice’s absence leaves a hole in our hearts that can never be filled.
A cherished mother, devoted daughter, loving wife, doting grandmother and great-grandmother, treasured aunt, cousin, and dear friend—Alice was the heart and soul of every gathering. Her love for cooking was boundless, whether she was crafting a simple meal, preparing a festive holiday feast, or seizing any excuse to bring everyone together around the table. Her creative spirit blossomed through arts and crafts; she poured her heart into making many of her daughter's wedding pieces, crafting beautiful wreaths, and exploring the mesmerizing world of pour painting. Alice’s passions extended beyond the kitchen and craft room—she was a devoted fan of football, cheering on the Washington Redskins/Commanders with unwavering enthusiasm. Crime shows like *Cops* and every gripping episode on the ID channel captured her fascination. She found peace and joy being outdoors, connecting with nature’s calm, but above all, her greatest happiness came from simply being with her family. Whether at lively family reunions or spontaneous road trips, family was her true home, her sanctuary. For over 45 years, she shared her life and love with her beloved husband, Joseph Young. Alice’s journey began in the Shippensburg School District alongside her siblings, where her passion for cars and mechanics ignited as she worked side by side with her brothers. After completing her education, she dedicated more than two decades to teaching at the Delaware School for the Deaf, touching countless lives with her kindness, patience, and unwavering dedication. Alice’s legacy is one of love, creativity, and commitment—a beacon of warmth and strength to all who knew her.
She is lovingly remembered by her devoted husband, Joe Young; her cherished daughters, Tiffany Young and Vanessa Freeman; her dear brother, Wayne Rideout; and her beloved granddaughters, Alexis Johnson and Jessica Ringgold. She held a special place in the hearts of her grandsons, Andrew Carulli, Isaiah Freeman, and Micah Couchman, as well as her precious great-grandchildren, Aryana, Isaiah, and Jordan. Her spirit lives on through the countless cousins, nieces, and nephews who adored her deeply.
