Alfred Joseph Pietras

Alfred Joseph Pietras (Brownie), age 95, passed on June 30, 2025. Alfred was a longtime resident of Browntown. He attended St. Hedwig's School and Wilmington High School. Alfred proudly served in the U.S. Air Force in the Korean War as an Armorer for the F84 Fighter Bomber Squadron. He was a life member of VFW Post 3257.

He was employed at Electric Hose & Rubber and The Speakman Company until his retirement. His favorite time was spent at Oak Orchard on his boat fishing and crabbing. He enjoyed yard saling, Delaware Park, a good garden tomato and a cold beer.

Alfred was predeceased by his wife Marcia (Marty), his parents, Adam and Josephine Dobek Pietras and all his siblings: Jesse, John, Eugene, Lillian Kalafut, Catherine Donlon, and Helen Scarano Cushing.

He is survived by several nieces and nephews and other extended family.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 8 at 10:00 at Nichols - Gilmore Funeral Home, 212 East Justis Street Newport, DE 19804, with a Memorial Service beginning at 11:00. Burial to follow at The Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road Bear, DE 19701, with Air Force Military Honors.
