Agnes Marceline Slippey

Agnes Marceline Slippey, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2025. Born in 1941 in Penns Grove, New Jersey, Agnes grew up in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, before returning to her hometown, where she built a life filled with love and devotion alongside her husband, Robert C. Slippey Sr., affectionately known as "Pappy." Together, they raised their son, Robert and daughter, Anna Marie, creating a warm and nurturing home.

Known to her grandchildren as "Memmem," Agnes dedicated much of her life to caring for her family and serving others. She worked tirelessly with Catholic Charities and as a school crossing guard, ensuring the safety of children in Penns Grove. Her faith was a guiding light, and she was an active supporter of her local churches, where she found joy in helping those in need. Agnes also had a playful side, always ready with a good joke to bring laughter and warmth to any gathering.

Agnes’ warm and loving spirit touched everyone around her. She leaves behind her daughter, Anna Marie Lee; her son, Robert Clair Slippey Jr; her grandchildren, Lauren Rachelle Lee, Anthony Lee, Robert W Slippey, Wayne Slippey, James Slippey, and Charles Slippey; and her cherished great-granddaughters, Lyana Marceline Morris and Laura Michelle Slippey. She is also survived by her sisters, Mary Lynn Hlavati and Bernadine Bainton, and her brothers, Joseph Burke and James Burke. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert C. Slippey Sr., and her sisters, Ann Burke and Sr. Jane Burke SSND. Memmem’s legacy of kindness, compassion, and humor will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

A memorial service to celebrate Agnes’ life will be held at St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish in Penns Grove, NJ, on August 16, 2025, at 11:00 AM. All are welcome to attend and honor her memory.
