Obituary for Wayne D Hall

Print
Wayne D. Hall, age 66, of New Castle, became our angel and joined his beloved family & friends in Heaven early in the morning of Tuesday, August 20th, 2019.

He was preceded in death by his parents John & Lillian Hall (Croal), sister Lorraine Bowers, and brothers Richard & John (Jack).

Wayne spent most of the early part of his life in Northern Delaware, and moved to the state of Florida in his mid-teens, where he graduated from St. Petersburg High School before returning to Delaware shortly after. He worked for General Motors briefly upon his return to Delaware, and then moved on to New Castle County Government in the Parks Department until his retirement a few years ago, most notably caretaker of Baynard Stadium in Wilmington for a period of time.

Wayne was the perfect father to his children, always there for them in times of need, and he always let them know, especially during his health battles, that he lived his life through them. He was extremely well-loved by everyone he came into contact with for his easy-going, positive attitude, even temper, and ability to make friends, most notably at his favorite hang-out of which he was a patron for many years, the St. Anthony’s Club of New Castle. Wayne was whole-heartedly passionate about his Philadelphia sports, a die-hard fan of the Philadelphia Eagles & Phillies, as well as the Flyers & Sixers to a slightly lesser degree.

Wayne is survived by his daughter, Lindsey, and son, Steven (and daughter-in-law Debbie), as well as his sister, Carol Neff, and brother, Thomas. He was formerly married to Janice Derrick for 14 years (1979-1994). His daughter, Lindsey, remained diligently by his side the last 8 years, along with Janice the last couple of months, helping him through everything as he battled illness like a warrior.
