Obituary for Roy H. MacMillan

Roy H. MacMillan, 97, of Newark, DE and formerly of Natick, MA, passed away on August 10th, 2021, after a period of declining health. Born in Buffalo, NY, he was the son of Harry and Marion (Eadon) MacMillan. He attended Needham, MA schools, where he was co-captain of the high school hockey team. Roy proudly served in the U. S. Navy during WWII as a hospital ship corpsman. He was employed by Coan Oil Company for 38 years, where many of his colleagues were also dear friends. Even after relocating to Delaware in 2002 to be closer to his daughter and her family, Roy continued to be an avid New England Patriots fan.

Roy is survived by his wife of 68 years, Marie (Quatrale) MacMillan, brother Donald MacMillan of Chelmsford, MA, daughter Dawn and her husband Rob Ellis of Avondale, PA, grandson Robert Ellis, granddaughter Kathleen and her husband Scott Cherry, and great-grandchildren Natalie, Calvin, and Elias Cherry. He was preceded in death by his sisters Helen McCabe and Marion MacMillan.

Roy will always be remembered for his dedication to family, friendly demeanor, and natural kindness to everyone he met.

A private memorial service at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear, DE is being planned for a future date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Delaware Hospice.
