Obituary for Richard Visconti

Richard “Dick” Visconti, 68, of Ocean View, Delaware
Retired Small Business Owner, avid Golfer and devoted Husband

Richard Charles Visconti, 68 of Ocean View, Delaware, died peacefully in Hospice Care at Wilmington Hospital on December 30th, after a 2-year battle with cancer.

Dick was born in Charleston, WV. He graduated from Annapolis High School where he excelled in baseball and was life long friends with his teammates. He graduated from Frostburg State University in western Maryland where he played baseball but learned to love soccer as his first sport. Again, he made life long friends with his teammates and “Sig Tau” brothers.

Dick became a sales rep after college in the Pittsburgh area until a better opportunity sent him to central New Jersey. Here, more friends were made as he played soccer and began participating in local biathlons, triathlons and cycling groups.

In 1989, with the help of two experienced retail store owners, he opened his first of eight retail card and gift stores. He successfully retired from business in 2020 and moved to The Villages at Bear Trap Dunes in Ocean View, Delaware where he and his wife had owned a townhome for 13 years in the golf community. More friends were made.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Albert R. and Maryanne. In addition to his wife, Krista, of 26 years Dick is survived by his stepdaughters, Laura Weber and Chirstine Stanley, and three step-grandchildren. Also surviving him are his uncle and aunt, Merle and Barbara Maffei, his brother Albert M. Visconti, and his sister Cara Visconti.

A Celebration of Life in his honor will be held on Saturday, March 16 from 1 - 4 pm at Reef and Barrel Manasquan, NJ.
