Peter John Wlock

Wilmington--Peter John Wlock passed away peacefully at home, after a long illness, surrounded by his family on 22 April 2020. He was 68 years old.

He was born in Passaic, NJ to Estelle Zolnowsky and William Wlock. Peter was a graduate of Garfield High School, NJ and Rutgers University, NJ. He earned an A.S. degree in Applied Science in Chemistry and a B.S. degree in Zoology. He went on to have a 35-year career as a flight instructor and, later on, corporate pilot. Peter flew for Texaco and MBNA, ending his career as a flight instructor at Flight Safety in New Castle, DE.

Living in Texas, Peter was Cub Master for Pack 440 in Houston and later a Boy Scout Leader for Troop 250 in Newark, DE.

He was an avid fly-fisherman his entire life and would talk fishing to anyone who would listen. He loved the Jersey Shore and small vanilla ice cream cones.

Peter is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Mary Rappel-Wlock, and their children: Amanda Wlock-Husni (Michael), Daniel Wlock, Jerzy Wlock (Angeline), and one grandchild. He is also survived by his sister, Carol Wlock.

The family would especially like to thank Seasons Hospice and Active Day of Newark, DE for all of the care and comfort they provided for Peter and our family.

A celebration of Peter’s life will be held as soon as gatherings are permitted. The internment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Peter’s memory may be made to St. Jude’s Hospital for Children, Shriners Hospitals for Children, Faithful Friends Wilmington DE, or the Brandywine SPCA, DE.
