Obituary for Patrick Purdy
Patrick "Pat" Purdy, age 66, of Wilmington, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 12, 2023.
Pat graduated from McKeen High School in 1975. He joined the United States Air Force where he was an aircraft mechanic and was known by the nickname Pudrock. Pat was a former supervisor at Comcast and he just recently retired as a postal carrier after 18 years.
Pat coached and was a referee for NCCFL football, played softball for Copeland Tree Services, was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and liked to cook.
Pat was a wonderful son, brother, uncle and great uncle.
Pat is preceded in death by his parents, Harold Dutch Purdy and Claire Purdy, and his brother, Andy Purdy.
Survivors included his fiance Liz Bard; sisters, Sherry Lynn Doyle, Lisa Bush, Becky Purdy and sister in law Lisa Purdy; nieces and nephews including Tim, Tyler and Jacob whom he helped raise and great nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 11 AM on Friday, August 18, 2023 at Nichols - Gilmore Funeral Home, 212 East Justis Street Newport, DE 19804, where visitation will begin at 10 AM. Burial will be private.
