Obituary for Patricia S. Riley
Patricia S. Riley, age 76, of Wilmington, went home to be with the Lord after her short battle with colon cancer, on Saturday, March 18, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.
Pat was an insurance agent at several locations for many years before she retired in 2018. She was an active member of Peniel United Methodist Church for 63 years and a former Girl Scout leader for Troop 290, CBGSC. She shared the troop for many years with Barbara Fender who instantly became a longtime treasured friend to Pat.
Pat’s greatest joy was spending time with her family and she doted on her grandchildren and great grandchildren every chance she could.
Pat loved going to gospel concerts with Harold and their good friends, Mario and Joyce Marini. Pat also enjoyed her family trips to the mountains in VA.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, George and B. Lavenia Johnson; sister, Kathleen Sammons; and mother-in-law Mildred Riley.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Harold; daughters, Dawn Melvin (Chris), Stephanie Riley and Amy Capriotti (Dominick); 6 grandchildren, Michael Riley (Naomi), Ashley Kropiewnicki (Steve), Katelyn Melvin, Anthony Capriotti (Kelly), Jackie Wickwire and Alex Capriotti; 6 great grandchildren, Lucas and Emerson Kropiewnicki, Elias and Amaya Riley, Niko Wickwire and Joel Winner; 2 sisters, Lavenia Hughto (John) and Carolyn McCloud; and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at Peniel United Methodist Church, 115 E. Market Street Wilmington, DE 19804, where visitation will begin at 9:30 AM. Burial will be private.
