New Castle - Maria passed away Thursday, December 10, 2020 at Christiana Hospital with her daughter by her side.
She was born in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brasil, to the late Dr. Luiz Castilho and Diva (Campos) Castilho. Maria was predeceased by her husband of nearly 53 years, Arthur H. Abell; sister Lucia Maria Castilho; and brother Jose Carlos Campos Castilho. She is survived by daughter Dr. Elizabeth Abell, of New Castle, DE.
The family would like to thank Christiana Care and Seasons Hospice for their wonderful care.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, December 21 from 1pm to 2pm at NICHOLS-GILMORE FUNERAL HOME, 212 E. Justis St. Newport, DE 19804 where services will begin at 2 pm. Masks must be worn and social distancing enforced including maximum of 50 people in the funeral home at one time.
In addition, the family will hold a celebration of her life next year when we can safely gather to share our remembrances.
