Obituary for Lisa Ann Morton

Lisa Ann (Dempsey) Morton, age 61, of Wilmington, Delaware passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2022.

Lisa was the second of four children and was raised in Newark, Delaware.

Lisa attended Glasgow High School where she graduated in 1978. She also attended Hodgson Vo-Tech from 1976 to 1978 in its Office Occupations Program. After high school, Lisa went to work for the Du Pont Company where she met and married Peter J. Morton. In 1990, they had a son, Brennan Len Morton.

While at Du Pont, Lisa worked in the Legal department and later worked in the legal field as a legal secretary and paralegal. She received a certificate from the University of Delaware in paralegal studies.

Lisa was one of the first original members of the Newark United Pentecostal Church in Newark, Delaware established around 1980. She has contributed not only to church but many animal organizations. Known for her crocheting of baby blankets, she also loved to cook and garden and was an avid runner for more than 25 years. She graduated from the Barbizon School of Modeling in 1985 and placed third runner-up in the Miss Delaware pageant

Lisa was predeceased by her parents, Jack Dempsey Sr and Norma and two sisters, Deborah Johnson Holiday and Brenda Garcia Olveta. She leaves behind her son, Brennan, 31 and one surviving brother, Jack T. E. Dempsey Jr. Jack has been married to Theresa Yeager Dempsey for 38 years. The couple have three children together and four grandchildren. Lisa also is survived by two nephews, Charles “Hinke” Johnson and Drew Munion; two nieces, Raina Johnson Bonholtzer and Shari Maria Garcia; grand-nephew, Jaden Johnson; grand-nieces, Erica Williams, Ariana Bonholtzer, Italia Johnson, Elieana Johnson, Angela Johnson and adopted grand-nephew, Julio Santiago and grand-niece, Genesis Santiago and her beloved cats. .

Services- A Celebration of Life event will be at the Newark United Pentecostal Church on March 5, beginning at 11 am.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the AI DuPont Children’s Hospital would be welcomed.
