Obituary for L. Elizabeth Papillo
L. Elizabeth (Vandever) Papillo, age 62, of Salisbury, MD, born in Wilmington, DE, passed away in her home on Tuesday, December 5, 2023.
“Liz” lived life on her own terms, a free spirited woman until the end. In her early years, she would be on the back of a Harley every chance she got. She was known for doing anything in her power to look out for the people she loved and never backed down when it came to protecting her family. Most might say her proudest role in life was being a rockstar “Mom-mom” to her 16 grandchildren. Liz took every opportunity to drive down to the beach or sit by the pool, but a lawn chair on the sidewalk with an iced tea in hand while watching the kids play was paradise enough for her. You would know she was pulling up in her car when you could hear Cher or Madonna blasting half way down the block. It didn’t take much to make Liz happy, as long as she had her family at her side.
Liz is survived by her son, Raymond Douglas Adkins (Jessica) and their children, Diamond, Raymond III, Serenity Iceis, Daniel and Oliver; daughter, Stephanie Doughty (John) and their children, Joseph, Jordan, Jayden, Janessa, Justice, and Jayla; daughter Sara Papillo (Wayne Jenkins) and their children, Olivia, Adrian, Svetlana and Lorenzo; son, Damien Papillo (Angelina) and their children, Carmine and Stellina.
She is also survived by her mother, Lorraine Petitt; sister, Sharon Whittaker (Bill) and their children, Kaitlyn and Andrew; brother, William Brian Vandever and his son, Albert.
She was preceded in death by her father, William “Bill” Vandever; stepfather, George Petitt; and niece, Tiffany Vandever.
Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, December 15, 2023, at Nichols - GIlmore Funeral Home, 212 East Justis Street Newport, DE 19804, where visitation will begin at Noon.
