Obituary for Juan M Allongo
Juan M. Allongo, age 71, of Hockessin, DE, formerly of East Brunswick, NJ, passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2023 at Christiana Hospital.
Juan was born in Cuba to the late Juan and Norma Allongo. He served in the U.S. Air National Guard and was retired from JP Morgan Chase and Credit Suisse First Boston. Juan was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served in various capacities over the course of 45 years, including as a full-time missionary for 2 years in Tempe, AZ. He also was a member of the Ministry of Caring and Boy Scouts of America. He conducted his undergraduate and graduate studies at Cornell University and NYU. Juan played guitar and loved music, camping and collecting books.
Juan is survived by his wife, Mercedes Allongo; his sons, Daniel Allongo and Michael Allongo; his grandchildren, Abigail and Eva; and his siblings, Norma Tamburrino and Alfred Allongo.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday December 2, 2023 at 11:30am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located on 1682 Wood Street, Philadelphia, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to various charitable causes using the Giving Machines located in the Fashion District at 901 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA.
