Jonathan E. Osborn, age 76, of Newark, DE, formerly of Salem, MA passed away suddenly on January 7, 2020 while skiing at Jack Frost Ski Area.

Jon was raised in Essex, MA. After graduating from Gloucester High School in 1963. He attended culinary school and he became a professional chef, before moving into food sales where he steadily rose to become the vice president of sales for several desert companies. In 1970 Jon married his wife LaRetha and his family eventually settled in Wilmington, DE in 1980. Jon was known for his story telling and keen sense of humor. He enjoyed skiing and mountain biking, which suited his energetic personality. Jon was a big fan of Boston sports’ teams and he enjoyed their success in recent years. In his latter years the time he spent with his 5 grandchildren was dear to him.

Jon was predeceased by his mother Annette (Meme), his father J. Carl and his brother Mark. He is survived by his wife LaRetha, his daughter Sarah Gerkens (and husband Henry), his son Jonathan (and wife Szuhua), his sister Joan Imbrunone (and her husband Nicky), his brother Richard Osborn (and his wife Sandy), his sister Carla Symonds, his brother Paul Osborn (and his wife Lauri), his brother Matthew Osborn (and his wife Laura), his 5 grandchildren and 19 nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on January 16 at Red Clay Presbyterian Church (500 McKennans Church Rd, Wilmington, DE 19808). From 10AM to 11AM there will be a time to greet that family with a service following at 11 am followed by a luncheon. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Red Clay Creek Presbyterian Church’s Missions Fund.
