Obituary for George J. Farren

George Joseph Farren, age 71, passed away peacefully in the care of Accent Hospice and his sister Tammy Farren on Friday evening January 12, 2024.

He was born in Chester, PA to the late Thomas and Doris (MacDonald) Farren. He was a 1970 graduate of Chichester High School, and grew up in the Twin Oaks section of Upper Chichester. He was a T.O. Boy known as Bear.

After graduation, he worked a variety of jobs, an assembler at Chrysler and a cabinet installer. He also worked for his father Tom Farren who was a general contractor. But his favorite job was as a direct care associate for Chimes, Delaware. He was devoted to his “boys” taking them and buying them breakfast once a week. He had the honor of being selected as the Advocate of the Year in the state of Delaware in 2009. He retired from Chimes in 2019. George had a kind heart and a great love for those he held dear.

George was a complete sports fan. He loved all sports but especially all Philadelphia teams. He also spot on predicted the Eagles outcome, when they were 10-1, long before their season ended.

George was the loving husband of the late Marianne Farren (2010). She was the love of his life. His wish was to be with her for eternity. We are comforted to know he is in heaven with her and finally at peace. He was also predeceased by his sister Helen Litwa (2015), who loved him with all her heart.

He is survived by his loving siblings Tammy Farren, Irene Farren Vitarelli, and John Farren. He is also survived by his devoted step children Jennifer Lynch, Jay Lynch, and Christine Alvarez, along with grandchildren Shane, Joel, Reed, Alana, Alivia, and James.

George and his family are also grateful the love and support of his close friends Joe Ciociola, June Casula, Pete Dakunchak, Anne Laird, and Mike Dutt.

At George’s request there will be no service. Final arrangements are entrusted to Nichols-Gilmore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Newport DE. Send condolences to www.nicholsgilmore.com
