Obituary for Edward L. Pierce, Sr.,

On August 11, 2021, a few weeks shy of his 83rd birthday, Edward L. Pierce, Sr., peacefully passed away.

Ed is survived by his beloved wife, Elizabeth (Betty), their son, Edward, granddaughters Lauren and Sophie, and his sisters, Helena, and Barbara. He was preceded in death by parents, Leo Vincent and Marie, cherished grandson Owen, and sisters, Rosalie and Patricia.

Ed was born in Wilmington, DE. He and Betty married in 1960 and would have celebrated their 61st Wedding Anniversary on September 10, 2021. They welcomed Ed Junior in 1968. Together, Ed and Betty operated Ed Pierce Painting Inc. for nearly 50 years.

Considering his ability to fix almost anything and his love and appreciation for art, antiques, history, cooking, classical music, wood-working, gardening and nature, Ed was a true Renaissance man. A lifetime member of Ducks Unlimited, Ed was an enthusiastic outdoorsman, enjoying camping, fishing and waterfowl hunting. His collection of duck decoys is quite impressive! He was also an extremely talented artist. He created beautiful oil paintings well past his 80th birthday! Ed was a devoted New York Yankees fan and rarely missed a game. After watching the game, he enjoyed calling Ed Jr. to opine on how the Yankees could have done better. However, what he loved the most was traveling with Betty and spending time with his grandchildren, whom he adored. He loved to tell a story and we all loved to listen.

His sharp wit, dry sense of humor, warm heart and generous spirit will be dearly missed.

Memorial services will be private.
