Obituary for Edward L. Baxter
Edward L. Baxter, age 69, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, November 9, 2021.
Edward was a 1971 graduate of McKean High School and was an Air Force Veteran. He was a truck driver for many years, first for the family business, Braddock Transfer and then for the past 18 years at Erdner Bros.
Edward loved playing ball with his dog, Cyrus, bowling and playing chess and enjoyed sci-fi movies. He will be remembered for his protective nature and heart of gold.
Edward was preceded in death by his daughter, Kimberly Baxter; parents, Laverne and Maxine Baxter; sister, Judy Sutton; father-in-law, William Braddock; mother-in-law, Jane Braddock and brother-in-law, James McClafferty.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Barbara Baxter; siblings, William Baxter (Carol), Daniel Baxter (Vicky) and Deb Newman; sisters-in-law, Debbie McClafferty, Carol Redding (Robert) and Janice Savage (Rich); and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at 12 noon on Friday, November 19 at NICHOLS-GILMORE FUNERAL HOME, 212 E. Justis St. Newport, DE 19804 where visitation will begin at 11 am. Burial will be private.
