Obituary for Dorothy Fawra
Dorothy Jean (Evans) Fawra, age 66, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, August 21, 2023. Born in Florence, SC, she was the daughter of the late Edmond Shepherd and Jessie Mae (Wilson) Evans.
Dorothy owned and operated Day & Night Daycare for almost 30 years where she watched and helped raise countless kids including fostering. Dorothy was especially gifted in arts, including drawing, crocheting baby blankets and hats, and numerous crafts. Aside from Dorothy’s hobbies of drawing, and crocheting she was an avid lover of seafood and loved to cook and bake cakes and pies.
To know Dorothy, you know her joy for always wanting to be close to and around her family and wanting to celebrate every holiday with them. She most cherished her family and would do anything to provide for her beloved children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and in recent times her love for her cat Zoe.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Danielle (Evans) Fawra, Rhonda Fawra, and Corrine Fawra, her husband Roger L Fawra, her sisters Vera Evans & Stephanie Shepherd, her grandchildren, Sherelle Fawra, Brandon Fawra, Roben Fawra (predeceased), Marissa Fawra, Asia Fawra, India Fawra, Christian Rivera-Fawra and Jordan Moon-Fawra (predeceased); great-grandchildren Ka’Mya Harris, Kayden Lolly-Fawra, Cali Chambers, Armani Lolly-Fawra, and Khari Fawra, that is on the way; her stepdaughter Sonjah Weeks-Burris and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews and other extended families.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and some of her siblings.
Dorothy will forever be loved and in our hearts. A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 8, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at People’s Baptist Church, 50 South Street, New Castle, DE 19720 where visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m.
