David A. Edwards Sr. (Dave)
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of David A. Edwards Sr on Friday, September 8, 2023 at the age of 75. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother-in-law and dog daddy to Bryson and Chase.
Dave was a proud and past member of the Delaware Air National Guard 1967-1973 and Minquas Fire Company. He worked for DuPont for 46 years before retiring in 2013.
Dave was our miracle man, he was a liver transplant recipient of 13 years, a Gift of Life speaker and a survivor of stage 4 melanoma. He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Newport for 64 years and a worship leader. Dave was an avid Philadelphia sports fan including the Eagles, Phillies and Flyers and Penn State football. He was a man of great faith, compassion, caring, loving, and a friend to all that knew him.
Dave was predeceased by his parents, Earl and Mildred; his sisters, Virginia, Doris and Kathy; brothers, Kenny and Ricky and his nephew and godson, Ray Halfen.
Surviving are his loving wife and high school sweetheart of 54 years, Patricia A. Edwards; daughter, Penny Edwards; son, David A. Edwards Jr and his fiancé, Kathy Wise; his 4 grandchildren whom he cherished dearly, Landon (Ellie), Jordan (Ethan), Virginia and Abbey; his sisters, Carolyn, Denise; brother, Billy and many nieces, nephews, in-laws and grandpups, Remy and James.
Funeral Services will be at 11 am on Friday, September 15 at St. James Episcopal Church Newport, 2 S Augustine St, Newport, DE 19804 where visitation will begin at 10 am. Entombment with Military Honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
