Obituary for Charles "Charlie" Foraker

Charles Foraker, 69, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2023 at home with his daughter (Marsha) by his side. He is preceded by his father Oscar T Foraker Sr. and son Charles Foraker Jr. He is survived by his mother Betty Foraker (Streets), brothers Wayne Foraker and Ozzie Foraker Jr. and daughters Elva Sawyer, Marsha Foraker and Kelly Ashback. He had 8 grandchildren Dominic Spitz, Samantha Spitz, Denzel Foraker-Brown, Jasmine Ashback, De'Jah Foraker, Michael Ashback, Bettie Joe Parra-Foraker, Kaylee Foraker. He also had 3 great grandchildren. He had 2 grand dogs Ice and King, that he enjoyed giving treats and giving them loving.

Charles worked on the Sun Ship and Philadelphia Naval yard until his retirement. While he was on retirement he worked part time jobs delivering car parts and stocking shelves at a grocery store just to keep himself busy.

Charles enjoyed working on computers, fixing electronics, bowling and collecting and repairing Aurora cars. He bowled in leagues and tournaments with his brother Ozzie. He also worked on cars with his brother Wayne. He enjoyed having conversations on the phone with his mother on a daily basis. Most of all he loved spending time with his family.

Charles had a special love for his granddaughter Bettie Joe. He helped raise her from birth to the day he passed away. He would take her back and forth to headstart to middle school. When she would come home from college, he would be happy to see her. Over the years, he had built a special bond with her. They would laugh and talk about things that were between them. In his eyes, she was The Best Granddaughter Ever.

Over the last year, Charles was able to build a bond with his neighbor Christine Conner and Karen Conner. They assisted in the care of Charles, when his daughter would go to work. They were there till the day of his passing.

A viewing will be held from 5 pm to 7 pm on Thursday, July 13 at NICHOLS-GILMORE FUNERAL HOME, 212 E. Justis St. Newport, DE 19804 where a time of sharing will be held following at 7 pm. Burial will be private.
