Obituary for Ann Zachmann

Mrs. Ann Zachmann, 84, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 3, 2022.

She was the only child of the late Catherine and Dominick Novitski. Ann was born in Scranton Pennsylvania and lived there until she went to work at Cornell University in her early 20s. Most of her life was spent in Wilmington, Delaware where she raised her family until the last 6 years when she moved to Aiken to reside at Cumberland Village. She was married to George Zachmann Jr. who preceded her in death. Survivors include two daughters Kathleen and Joyce, two sons George III and Robert, one granddaughter Ashley, daughter-in-law Tammy, and five great grandchildren. She had a great sense of humor and was beloved by all.

Ann had a loving social spirit and enjoyed helping others. She always seemed content and happy regardless of her circumstances. Ann experienced a full life living in Amsterdam for a couple years where she was able to travel extensively through Europe. She performed volunteer work and enjoyed singing in the church choir. While in Aiken, she enjoyed the parties, gatherings, and bingo at Cumberland Village. She spent the last few months at Pepper Hill Nursing Home after falling and unable to regain mobility. She frequently stated she was ready to be with the Lord and had lived a great life.

A service will be held at Nichols - Gilmore Funeral Home on Wednesday February 23, 2022 at 1pm with visitation starting at 12:30 followed by a burial at All Saints Cemetery where she will be buried next to her parents.
