Ernestine A. Dempsey

Nashville, TN, formerly New Castle, DE - Ernestine, age 68, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 31, 2018, at home.

Ernie retired as a case manager nurse at Delaware Hospice after 12 years of service. Prior to that she was the school nurse at New Castle Baptist Academy for 9 years and a RN at Riverside Hospital of Wilmington, DE. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and taking care of others.

Survivors included her children, Ryan (Beth) and Megan (Nick) Kroes; step-children, Cliff (Annie) and Harold (Kathy) Dempsey and Sue Weaver; brothers, Paul Leiser (Nancy) and Ray Leiser (Bonnie); and 16 grandchildren. She was united in marriage to Thomas W. Dempsey on August 23, 1975. He preceded her in death on March 21, 2010.

Services will be 11:30am, Tuesday-, April 10, at ST. MARKS UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 1700 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808 where visitation will begin at 10am. Interment will be at 1pm following the funeral at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Chesapeake City Rd., Bear, DE.
