Grady L. Prickett

AGE: 80 • Newark

Grady passed away on November 2, 2017 after a long illness. He was born in Porterdale, GA. Grady joined the Air Force in 1954 and was transferred to Dover Air Force Base. He became a member of the Delaware Air National Guard and served at the New Castle Air Base as a Chief Flight Engineer and an Aircraft Technician from 1961 through 1987. He retired after thirty-three years of service to his country.
Grady loved classic automobiles, especially muscle cars, and restored Mustangs for many years. He was also an avid NASCAR fan.

He was preceded in death by his mother Sabie Lou Wright, step-father Millard Wright, sister Merita Prickett and brother William Prickett.

Grady is survived by his wife, Paula Prickett; they were together for over fifty-one years. He is also survived by his daughter Vickie Pine (Duane), his sons: Mike Prickett (Barbra) and Jeffrey Prickett (Linda), four grandsons: Michael, Robert, Joshua, and Jason, one great-granddaughter, Caroline, and two great-grandsons: Austin and Jacob. He is also survived by his brother Walter Prickett (Helen) and sisters Drenda Clifton (John) and Donna Branyon (Jerry).

The family would like to thank Grady's doctors: Dr. Lindsey Slater, Dr. Michael Stillabower, Dr. Alfred Bacon III, Dr. Melissa Morgan-Gouveia, and Dr. Scott Schaeffer. They would also like to thank the nursing, tech, and phlebotomy staff at Christiana Care, especially those on 3D. The family would like to thank the Visiting Nurse Association staff. All of those listed provided outstanding care to Grady during his extended illness. Finally, the family would like to extend special thanks to Grady's sister-in-law, Cyndi Smuzynski. Without her incredible gift, Grady would not have been with us for the last fourteen years.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 pm on Wednesday, November 8 at NICHOLS- GILMORE FUNERAL HOME, 212 E. Justis St, Newport, DE 19804 where Funeral Services will be at 12 noon on Thursday, November 9 with additional visitation starting at 11 am. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
